The most harrowing tales are hidden behind the glamor of a career. Lolo Jones, the winner of both the USA championships as well as the World Champion in hurdles was able to achieve her standing with lots of effort and a huge amount of patient. Jones was born to a motherless family and had five children living suffering from poverty and hardships when she was a kid, endured an incredibly difficult childhood. She lived with her mom in a basement church and was always in motion. This nomadic life made it necessary for Jones to attend the same school each year up until her first day of in high school. Jones was separated from her parents at Theodore Roosevelt for the purpose of competing in the track and field.
